After opening its doors a year ago, El Reno’s YouthCare of Oklahoma is busy providing mental health and substance abuse services to all ages, and is in the process of expanding its personnel and offices.
Site supervisor Kelly Groves said the El Reno branch opened here in January of 2012 and moved to its current location on East Highway 66 in April.
Groves said their staff of 10 employees provides services to about 150 patients.
According to their website, www.youthcareok.com, YouthCare of Oklahoma is “a private, for-profit company dedicated to excellence and innovation in Outpatient Behavioral Health and Substance Abuse education, treatment and advocacy for children, youth, adults and families,” with approximately 30 offices statewide.
“We do a lot,” Groves said, and services include individual, group and family therapy, substance abuse services, anger management, court-ordered services, youth groups, case management and transportation.
In addition to the El Reno location’s services, Groves said Dr. Richard Zielinski comes by once a month for patients with medication needs.
“We try to be as available as possible,” he said. “The services we provide go beyond our doors … crises don’t happen Monday through Friday, 8-5. We are facilitating a strong support system for our patients.”
Groves said his wanting to help people is rooted in high school when he took a senior level class in 10th grade. He said one presenter shared her story of being raped, and gave great credit to the therapists and counselors who helped her.
“It blew me away. I wanted to be that someone in someone’s life,” he said. “Ideally I’d be a stay-at-home dad,” but there is a need to fill by “providing mental health services.”
Groves said the El Reno location has expansion plans including three more staff members.
El Reno’s YouthCare of Oklahoma is located at 1600 E. Highway 66 Suite 5.
