Canadian County Youth and Family Services workers hope to play cupid early during their February “Love a Baby” diaper drive.

YFS is organizing and coordinating the drive throughout the month of February to help children in their foster care program and emergency shelter, as well as mothers in the agency’s independent living program, said YFS Facility Manager John Schneider.

“Youth and Family Services has seen a great need for diapers amongst their many different programs that serve various youth and families,” Schneider said. “Due to the fact that diapers are a bare essential for every baby, we are asking the community to assist in a very easy way, by loving a baby this Valentine’s Day with some much needed diapers.”

Diapers can be donated at several boxes throughout the county, Schneider said.  Locations include El Reno McDonald’s, Oklahoma State University Extension Office and Walgreens in El Reno; Walgreens, Chick-Fil-A and LifeChurch.tv in Yukon; Mustang Community Center and the Walgreens in Mustang; Dollar General and Health Mart Pharmacy in Piedmont; and All Nations Bank in Calumet, as well as Kingfisher McDonald’s and The SPOT in Watonga, he said. Online contributions can be made to YFS online, with funds being used to purchase diapers, Schneider said.

“With the help of the community, we plan to gather at least 800 packages of diapers during the month of February, which will then be distributed to these needy families,” he said.
